AH Animation Contest - Old Timey Ryan (Entry #1)

A contest entry for LetsPlay Community and Achievement Hunter. Animated in Flash, using audio provided by Achievement Hunter from one of their Minecraft let's play videos. I received second place in the contest. The entry was uploaded on the LetsPlay Community youtube channel, and the description and bumpers on the video are theirs. The style is my own, with the general designs and backgrounds coming from the original minecraft lets play videos.

Rise of Heroes Opener

Mirari project. Opener for a youth martial arts tournament. I worked as a Colour animator and compositor for Mirari on this project. 

Colony: Riz's Mates - Chapter 3 // Kurinji - Maybe the Medicine

I did the animation for the music video, Maybe the Medicine by Kurinji as a part of the Colony project, an ongoing series of stories from artists in Western Sydney by CuriousWorks.

The animation was a mix of Flash, Manga Studio 5, Premiere and After Effects. Frenden Brushes were used for line and colour work.

Unilever | Persil UK

I have worked as an animator for Mirari and Co for several 2D projects. This project from last year included several tv spots for Unilever. I contributed to mainly to the animation of the Persil spot and the transformation of the bottle. I also assisted in compositing the spots as well as earlier design and storyboard finalizing.

Maine Coon Werecat Shift

A Maine Coon Werecat. Made in Flash. I wanted to create a cat based character that wasn't simply mischievous and elegant, instead opting for a cute and outgoing character. I also experimented with how mass is distributed during shapeshifting. In this case, the extra mass goes into his shadow.

Gryphonheart High

Major project group animation. I acted as project manager for the group and did additional designs and story refinements along with storyboarding and animating several scenes and actions. Gryphonheart High is set in a world where monsters can join the same school as the humans. Urvle the dragon is making waves, being the first monster to run for school captain, but he has to get past Riley Cool-Guy human and his incredibly well thought out scheming.

Rizanthella

My final Advanced 2D animation project for SAEQ

Animation done in Flash cs6. Final video composited in Premiere.

Rhys the dwarf wants to give a unique gift to his friend, Avani, a Rhizanthella, which is an underground orchid.

I came up with the concept after seeing an animated gif from a Bollywood movie, of an actress doing an impressive hair flip, which I later used as reference for Avani. I also wanted to play with different body types, which is why I made my characters dwarves. I was also lucky that there is indeed an underground orchid that I could use to give my little love story a unique twist to the classic gift of flowers.

Surtr Hearth

My final assessment for my Digital environments class. I was the project manager of my team of four.

Environment and lighting done in Maya

The concept we agreed on for the project was to create a 'cold volcano.' There is hardened obsidian below the lake, with all heat being absorbed and emitted by the castle, which was inspired by the human heart. The mountain itself is meant to represent a hand, holding the last vestiges of heat. 

Shush Show Reel

My final assessment for my character animation class.

A character designed for a video game, with several game animations. I designed Shush around the vague game concept of 'pacifist stealth,' which basically amounted to eavesdropping. Sound would have been a huge element in the game, and the goal would be to use Shush to gather gossip, alter the words and send them back out. Shush's feathers would have been used as indicators and they're long gait was to facilitate having to sneak around everywhere without it becoming slow and boring.

I have also written a comic detailing Shush's origins.
